Consonant Groups at the Beginning of Words

important.jpg Some words have one consonant sound at the beginning. Listen.

white     (wh is 2 letters but only 1 sound)

Some words have groups of two or three consonant sounds at thebeginning.
Listen and repeat these words. Be careful - don't put avowel sound between the consonants.
