Linking Words Together

Lesson 34; Part A

When we write there are spaces between all the words, but when we speakwe link a lot of the words together, so it sounds like this:whenwespeakwelinkalotofthewordstogether.

galka.jpg34.1.jpgListen and notice how a consonant sound at the end of a word is linked to a vowel sound at the start of the next word.
Look_at that! Breakfast_in bed!

A: Bought
_it?
B: No, caught
_it!

That's
_enough! Switchw_it_off!

Now say the sentences, making the same links.

galka.jpgOf course, we can also separate the words if we want to. Listen to the difference.

Where there's a /t/ sound before a vowel, some people don't pronounce the /t/ clearly. Listen.
